School Social Worker

Welcome to Manse Elementary!

My name is Sierra McKillips and I am the School Social Worker here at Manse Elementary. I also cover Floyd Elementary.  I am scheduled at Manse on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.  This year will be my second year working the elementary schools. It has been a very exciting and wonderful experience working with all the amazing student and staff. Each year I look forward to meeting the students and parents that make Manse a wonderful community.

A little bit about me:

I am currently in the process of completing my Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Nevada, Reno. I completed my Bachelor’s in Social Work in May of 2016.  Before working for the school district I have the opportunity to work for the local non-profit coalition NyE Communities Coalition where I gained a variety of skills and made great connections with other community agencies. This experience has greatly benefited my current position in the schools; helping link families and students to other services around the community. Please feel free to contact me with any questions that you may have about community services and resources!

My role at the school:

As mentioned before I split between Manse and Floyd Elementary. My role in the schools is to work with students, parents and staff to create a positive and understanding environment.  I would with students on different levels based on their needs. I can provide services around social, emotion and behavioral health. I can also provide support and resources to parents seeking out addition assistances.  I also work as the point of contact for the Children in Transition program. This means I connect student and their families in transition with different resources and provide benefits through the McKinney Vento Act.  I collaborate with community agencies in building health connections to resource available with in Nye County and beyond ad needed.  My goal is to make sure that the students, families, and staff have access to resources that will benefit them in school and in the community.

Also please ask me about the “Braids, Bow-ties and Books” project.
