RE: School & District Investigation Process Clarification

The Nye County School District (NCSD) emphasizes the following facts and guidelines regarding investigations:

The district investigates every report and accusation made regarding student or staff concerns.

While we understand the community's desire for full transparency in every situation, federal and state privacy mandates strictly protect student records and employee personnel files; as a result, specific investigative findings, student and/or personnel outcomes, disciplinary actions, and evidentiary details cannot be disclosed to complainants, parents, or the public.

During an investigation, out of an abundance of caution, we may remove students from the classroom and place employees on administrative leave; however, we work under the same fundamental principle as our legal system: Every individual is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The safety, security, and well-being of our students across all Nye County communities remain our highest priorities. We strongly encourage parents, staff, and community members to refrain from engaging in or spreading unverified rumors, particularly across social media channels. The dissemination of speculation can hamper official investigations and cause unnecessary distress.

Update
Dear Parents and Guardians,

We have initiated a "Stay-Put" protocol to keep our hallways clear while Emergency Medical Services (EMTs) assist a student needing additional medical support in the nurse's office. Please be assured that the parents of the student involved have already been notified. All other students remain safe in their classrooms, and normal instruction is continuing.

During a Stay-Put protocol, outside activities are brought inside, exterior doors are locked, and hallway traffic is minimized to allow emergency responders clear and direct access. No outside visitors are permitted into the building while the protocol is active.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in keeping our school parking lot and hallways clear so our emergency responders can work effectively. We will notify you as soon as the medical situation is cleared and the Stay-Put protocol has been lifted.

Sincerely,
Samantha Moore Principal, Manse Elementary School

Update

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The safety and security of our students and staff are our highest priorities. I am writing to inform you that J.G. Johnson Elementary, Pahrump Valley High School (PVHS), Mt. Charleston Elementary, and Pathways Innovative Education have all been placed on a precautionary LOCKDOWN protocol at the request of the Nye County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO).

The Sheriff’s Office requested this protocol while addressing an incident report. Please be assured that this situation is ongoing, but all students and staff are safe and secure inside their respective school buildings.

During a Lockdown procedure, regular classroom activities pause, all exterior and interior doors are locked, and hallway traffic is restricted so emergency response personnel can effectively manage the surrounding neighborhood. No entry or exit from any of the affected campuses is permitted at this time. Please do not attempt to travel to any of the school sites, as access is strictly restricted for everyone's safety.

We are in constant communication with law enforcement and will send an update as soon as the Sheriff's Office clears the area and lifts the protocol. Thank you for your patience, trust, and cooperation as we keep our schools safe.

Sincerely,
School Administration & District Leadership

Take it from Lomas Brown: Don't Rush!
Dear Families,

Thank you so much for your patience as we launched our new dismissal procedures this week. We sincerely apologize for the long wait times on the first day of school.

We heard your feedback and have already made several updates to help things run smoother:

* **Relocated Hug & Go:** Moved closer to the school building, right by the palm trees and bike rack, to streamline traffic and pickup.
* **New Signage:** Added clear signs around the area to help guide parents and visitors.
* **Staff Familiarization:** Our team is working quickly to learn all the new faces of our incoming kindergarten families.

We truly appreciate your continued support and understanding as we iron out these initial kinks. If you have any suggestions, questions, or further feedback about our procedures, please don't hesitate to reach out to Principal Moore.

Greetings Manse Families! This is a reminder that our arrival & dismissal procedures have been updated for the 26/27 school year. We will be enforcing hug and go, drive thru and bus as the only options for arrival and dismissal. For security and safety reasons parents will be asked to stay on the west side of the drive thru closest to the parking lot. Kindergarten parents only will be permitted to walk their Kindergarten student into the building and drop them at the MPR on August 5th only. For details on the updated arrival & dismissal procedures please see the post on the Manse website.
