🔵 Blue Arrows – Walk-Up "Hug & Go" Area
Parents who wish to walk their child to the crossing area should park.
Please use the designated pedestrian crosswalks to access the Hug & Go area.
🟨 Crossing Area
Students and families must use the designated sidewalks & crossing areas when walking to and from campus.
Students will wait for a staff member to safely direct them across the crosswalk.
🔴 Red Arrows – Drive-Up Car Line
The car line operates in two lanes.
Students must remain inside the vehicle until the vehicle has passed the pedestrian crosswalk and is in the designated unloading/loading zone next to the kindergarten playground.
Students will load and unload only when directed by staff using the whistle.
Once the first group of vehicles has unloaded or loaded and exits, the next group of vehicles will pull forward into the unloading zone.
🚫 Important Safety Reminders
Parents may not park in the drive-through lanes.
Parents may not exit their vehicles while in the drive-through lanes.
Parents should wait in the designated Hug & Go area to the side of the front entrance of the school during arrival & dismissal.
Parents should ensure student sidewalks remain clear for student use and staff visibility during arrival or dismissal.
💙 Our Goal
Thank you for helping us keep arrival and dismissal safe, efficient, and orderly for all students. Following these procedures allows us to safely supervise every child and maintain a smooth traffic flow. We appreciate your partnership and cooperation! 🦅🚗

The NCSO has completed it's investigation of the area, and we have been cleared to lift the lockdown at all locations.

Dear Parents and Guardians,
The safety and security of our students and staff are our highest priorities. I am writing to inform you that J.G. Johnson Elementary, Pahrump Valley High School (PVHS), Mt. Charleston Elementary, and Pathways Innovative Education have all been placed on a precautionary LOCKDOWN protocol at the request of the Nye County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO).
The Sheriff’s Office requested this protocol while addressing an incident report. Please be assured that this situation is ongoing, but all students and staff are safe and secure inside their respective school buildings.
During a Lockdown procedure, regular classroom activities pause, all exterior and interior doors are locked, and hallway traffic is restricted so emergency response personnel can effectively manage the surrounding neighborhood. No entry or exit from any of the affected campuses is permitted at this time. Please do not attempt to travel to any of the school sites, as access is strictly restricted for everyone's safety.
We are in constant communication with law enforcement and will send an update as soon as the Sheriff's Office clears the area and lifts the protocol. Thank you for your patience, trust, and cooperation as we keep our schools safe.
Sincerely,
School Administration & District Leadership

Thank you so much for your patience as we launched our new dismissal procedures this week. We sincerely apologize for the long wait times on the first day of school.
We heard your feedback and have already made several updates to help things run smoother:
* **Relocated Hug & Go:** Moved closer to the school building, right by the palm trees and bike rack, to streamline traffic and pickup.
* **New Signage:** Added clear signs around the area to help guide parents and visitors.
* **Staff Familiarization:** Our team is working quickly to learn all the new faces of our incoming kindergarten families.
We truly appreciate your continued support and understanding as we iron out these initial kinks. If you have any suggestions, questions, or further feedback about our procedures, please don't hesitate to reach out to Principal Moore.
Attached is a calendar of important dates for the upcoming school year. Please note that dates are subject to change; if any updates occur, we will notify families as soon as possible. A printed copy of this calendar will also be sent home with your child.
We are looking forward to a fantastic year of learning, growth, and success together! 📚✨
