This week saw a first for the Nye County School District as the order of eleven new school buses was completed when Pahrump Routes 1 thru 7 took the roads.
New buses have also been delivered recently to Round Mountain, Tonopah, Beatty, and Amargosa. This is the first delivery of the long term Fleet Replacement Plan, which will see the upgrade of all buses across the entire District.
The second order of buses is scheduled to arrive soon with hopes to have ALL buses in Amargosa, Beatty, Tonopah, Round Mountain, and Duckwater replaced before the start of the 2024-2025 school year. Subsequent orders will see the entire fleet of school buses replaced for the 2027-2028 school year.
The new buses are equipped with brighter LED lighted signs, new camera systems, air conditioning, and State of Nevada mandated fire suppression system and seat belts for all passengers.
Please remind your students that if they ride a bus with seat belts they must wear them. School Bus riders who do not comply with properly wearing a seat belt as intended will be subject to consequences for violation of applicable state law and district policy, rules, and regulations.
